June 2014 - Classic Shirts

During this meeting, we had a panel discussion led by June, Martha and Lorraine. It included a trunk show from each, illustrating their differing approaches to shirt construction:

June focused on yokes.

Lorraine makes fabulous shirts for her husband.

Recommended men's shirt pattern

Oh, and then there was terrific show and tell, always the best part. Here are just a few shots of the items shown:

Jeannine is the master of upcycling, here wearing and showing evening desses she upcycled to wear.

Kathy, always so elegant, here is a crisp summer topper.

Karen's sewing time has been interrupted by a fire but she managed to construct a cool knit top and added some pretty sashiko.

Evanlee shows us a RTW item illustrating how the clever folds are created with a right angle in the seam.

This is a masterpiece of upcycling. Jan reknitted and fitted a man's sweater to herself. She also lined it with lovely soft silky charmeuse. It is going to be lovely to wear when temps dip.

Laurel designed this fun summer top. Love the layers.

Martina made this dress for her prom a few years ago. It is featured in an article she wrote for Threads, just out. Go read about it. Fun story and great that she kept the dress.

Marybeth loves Marcy Tilton designs (who doesn't?). Here she wears a great summer dress in fabric from the House of Lucretia, I believe.
